The piazza down from the Spanish steps. Palm trees in Rome. Who knew?
The Spanish Steps. We were under-whelmed by said steps...However, they did lead us to the following pictures.

Our beloved, best pizza in Rome pictured above :)

Afternoon of Day Three Musei Vaticani and Cappella Sistina

Ancient Egyptian (as in BC Ancient) pine cone and peacocks in the Vatican Museum courtyard. The purple marble tomb of Constantine, worth millions because of the rarity of the material.

Inside St. Peter's Basilica. St. Peter's is massive and beautiful and impossible to convey in a picture! Shawn's illicit picture of the chapel ceiling.

St. Peter's Square on clear day.

Morning of Day Three Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli

The church of Saint Peters in chains. Above are the chains that are said to have held Peter in Jerusalem. Also in the church, Michelangelo's Moses dating to 1515.

Day two after dark at Trevi Fountain

Legend says that if you toss a coin over your shoulder into the fountain you will some day return to the eternal city...can't hurt! So in went our coins...those were not the only coins we lost that night however...The only time we were swindled the entire vacation was when a sneaky little guy came over to us, took Shawn's camera and "offered" to take our picture, then proceeded to snap two polaroids of us and then demand payment. Trevi fountain is amazing and very romantic at sunset.

Day two The Colosseum

A truly magnificent sight...originally named the Flavian Ampitheatre. Its construction began in 70 AD and was finished in 80 AD under Titus. The weather in Rome this day was breezy and sunny and we were immediately in love with this city...not to mention each other

Arriving in Rome

A room with a view and bottle of bubbly awaited us...

Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore- The largest of 26 churches in Rome dedicated to the Virgin Mary

At the airport...

Waiting for our flight at JFK and taking a little time to un-wind with a little pre-flight cocktail. We were so excited to finally be leaving on our honeymoon!
